To the beach with insulin pump minimed 640g
We have collected for you answers to frequently asked questions about using the MiniMed 640G insulin pump in the summer.
What should I do if my insulin pump gets sand or salt water?
MiniMed 640G insulin pump, when properly installed and connected to the reservoir and tubing, is waterproof (IPX8) to a depth of 3.6 meters for up to 24 hours .
Because the pump is waterproof, splashing the pump or submerging the pump in water will not cause damage. However, we recommend that you carefully inspect the pump for microcracks, especially if there has been a fall or if you suspect damage to the pump. If the pump housing is cracked, it is no longer waterproof.
To protect the pumps from sand, you can use a special case. Be careful: in case of contact with water or sand, the infusion set cannot be cleaned and must be replaced.
The Guardian 2 Link transmitter, when connected to a sensor and worn on the body, is waterproof to a depth of 2.4 meters for a maximum of 30 minutes. However, we do not recommend immersing the transmitter in very hot water (for example, when you are taking a bath). If you suspect that water has entered your pump, or if you notice any malfunction, check your blood glucose levels and, if necessary, take action as directed by your doctor.
